His eyes dart constantly as he picks at a twig lodged in the unkempt mass of brown hair.
Chattering all around him squirrels moved about doing nothing and everything at the same time.
As he squatted down to rest he paused listening to something that shouldn't be there. The shaman tugged at the scraps of cloth he had tied about his tan and trimmed person. The shades of brown and dark green fabric making him blend into the trees of his home village. It was an unsettled life but a good one, for now.

The shaman let the squirrel go staring at a single leaf pulling away from the tree and drifting slowly to the ground where he sat.
He picked up the leaf a moment and brushed it over his lips smelling the past in it. Sticking the tip of his tongue out he licked the underside of the leaf furrowing his brow as he tasted that which has not happened yet.... so it is true then.
