Dr. Thomas Freighter is a scientist from London, England, who travelled to Shartak to discover and research the flora and fauna on the island. He currently lives in Durham and sometimes uses Magnus Pike's abandoned laboratory as a field camp, although he spends most of his time exploring and studying the island's native plants and animals. Which often involves killing and dissecting them.
He dislikes outsider racism towards natives and the way some outsiders push them around, steal their land and hurt or kill them. However, he is also a little intimidated by them. He will usually try to avoid them but will fight back if attacked and may rarely heal injured natives.
He is not related to Isaac Newton in any way and has never met him. He is confused about why people keep asking him if he is Newton's twin brother, stating that he looks nothing like Newton.
