Sir Giles stands (on 8-legs, of course) about 4' high and is roughly 8' across. He's large enough to carry a small human being on his back.
Friendly and cheerful, Sir Giles speaks with a thick Gaelic brogue, though the exact language is ancient and indeterminate. He is a violin virtuoso, and when relaxing, enjoys a long clay pipe and and a good brew. Or two. Or ten. He smells pleasantly of clover and floral scents, something he is very proud of.
Sir Giles is a phenomenal jumper, able to clear twice his body length in a single leap. His green body is bio luminescent and can be made to glow softly in the dark. He can spin very strong webs, has a venomous bite, and can clamber up most vertical surfaces with ease. He is a practitioner of what he calls "curious arts", and cannot touch cold iron.
Sir Giles is a member of the Tropical Knights of the Lost Orchid. They are attached to the Seelie Court and are defenders of nature. His presence on Shartak is a mystery - he claims only to have been dispatched there to "investigate and defend". What this may mean to the inhabitants of Shartak is unknown at this time.
Oh, and he's a ruddy great green spider. :D
The Nine Ordinances of the Lost Orchid
1- Shartak is a lady, and a knight defends a lady. Those who would cause her harm â those with gold medals for slaying animals, those with more than one kraken kill, firebugs and other vandals - are enemies of the island and must be opposed without mercy.
2- A knight must show bravery under all circumstances. An enemy, once found, must be challenged. A knight may not flee from danger. If an enemy cannot be finished, honor demands the knight remain to allow them fair combat. It is better to die with valor than live as a coward.
3- A knight defends the innocent. Those with fewer kills (including people and animals) than levels are sacrosanct. They must be honored above all others - defended, avenged, heeded, and extended all aid and comfort.
4- A knight defends the ancient laws of hospitality. Villages and towns are neutral ground. No blood may be spilled there, unless someone is first observed violating the laws themselves.
5- Tigers are the sword of the island. To be eaten by a tiger is a high honor, and something to be striven for. A knight may not take the life of a tiger.
6- A knight may take the life of other animals for sustenance, self-defense, and the defense of the weak. A knight may not, however, ever take enough lives to achieve a gold medal.
7- A knight is honest. A knightâs oath, once sworn, may not be broken. A knight may never betray a confidence or comrade, and must avoid deception.
8- A knight is respectful. A knight must be polite and courteous, save to those who are not conduct themselves in such a way. A knight must respect, if not necessarily obey, the duly constituted local authority.
9- A knight is loyal. A knight must defend to the death those who have put their trust in them. A knight must never abandon a friend, ally, or noble cause.

One day after arriving in Shartak, Sir Giles was attacked by a cowardly pirate, and almost killed. The native he was staying with was murdered in cold blood. Sir Giles has sworn fang and blade to the native cause, and will mercilessly kill any pirate he comes across. He expects no mercy in return.
"Sing a song o' tigers, great and strong! Sing a song o' tigers, all night long! Fire in the forest, ghost in the night! Take me oh island, with claw and savage bite!"
