NOTICE: I found Trader Tamdal on 6/11/2020! I saw him at coordinates [-70.061,+26.390]. He has since moved, he seems to have become a wandering trader.
Dr. Thomas Freighter is a scientist from London, England, who travelled to Shartak to discover and research the flora and fauna on the island. He once lived in Durham and sometimes uses Magnus Pike's abandoned laboratory as a field camp, although he spends most of his time exploring and studying the island's native plants and animals. Which often involves killing and dissecting them.
He dislikes outsider racism towards natives and the way some outsiders push them around, steal their land and hurt or kill them. He was initially a little intimidated by them and stayed away from native villages, but he was forced to head inland in search of more plants and animals to study. He encountered some friendly natives who taught him about their language and culture and now he doesn't treat them much differently from other outsiders.
He is not related to Isaac Newton in any way and has never met him. He is confused about why people keep asking him if he is Newton's twin brother, stating that he looks nothing like Newton.
