Meet Jeanette. She's had a hard life.

Born Crabs-In-Her-Hair, she and her tribe converted to Christianity and took Outsider names after the arrival of French missionaries in what is now called Port Breton.

Her tribe, who were mostly Raktami political dissidents persecuted during Dappled Shadow's reign, were brutally slaughtered by anarchists who mistook the French flag hanging off their settlement as a sign that they had monarchical sympathies. Boy, were they wrong!

Three days prior to the massacre, Port Breton's Camp Shaman Maxochitl had been run off by her born-again brethren for promoting heresy. Unfortunately, this effectively rendered them all mortal. Jeanette herself survived by hiding in the same latrine used by Baron Robert Surcouf during his one visit to the ruins.

Following the massacre, Jeanette was given leave to become a resident of Derby, but with the collapse of the Peninsula Federation, she decided to leave for a more Native-friendly region of the island.

After a long journey on foot, where she was nearly killed and eaten by cannibals searching for a mystical doohickey, she's returned to her tribe's ancestral home in Raktam, looking to shed her refugee status and then preach the Good Word. To that end, she's opened up a new bar in Raktam, La Belle Dame Saloon, 1 North of the Trader's Hut. Ask about her fungi juice prices!

Oh. As a result of her cultural indoctrination and the trauma caused from being the sole survivor of her tribe, Jeanette has come to believe that she's a white woman. Best not correct her.

After finding the cultural barriers impossible to break through, Jeanette fled Raktam to Derby, where she returned to her home in Port Breton, and there, in the presence of an unbeliever, she was bodily lifted up to Heaven, to sit at the right hand of le dieu as SAINT JEANETTE, who watches over and protects Shartak's drunkards and fungi juice abusers.
